Interior Design Eclectic Trend 2012

While each eye catches different interior design trends, in 2012 I personally have seen a huge boost of the "eclectic" in design.  In both furnishings as well as design, mixing patterns, textures and styles has become increasingly popular and has been done incredibly well this past year.  This used to be considered bohemian, but what has been achieved recently has re-dubbed "eclectic style" as expensive, modern and chic.  Here we will dissect the eclectic design trends of 2012.

Pattern Color Interior Design Trend 2012

There was a time when streamlined simplicity was the dominant look for most high end design.  However, patterns in daring colors has seen a big resurgence resulting in an extreme popularity this past year.  Mixing eclectic colors and patterns has become the new definition of modern.  Additionally, unprecedented access to international design projects and images has never been greater, resulting in a rise in popularity of colors and patterns from around the world.

Texture Interior Design Trends 2012

Blending texture well is one of the main elements of modern, eclectic design trends.  People are exposed to more and more imagery of excellent design from around the world, and this has inspired main stream culture to embrace the eclectic look that mixing textures provides.  Leather sofas, linen accent chairs, cut velvet pillows, and flokati rugs all fill the same room these days accented by Lucite, lacquered or mirrored tables.  Rustic is being mixed with modern in a beautiful and interesting way.

Furniture Architecture Interior Design Trends 2012

Big furniture is back!  Streamlined, open floor plans with chic simplistic furniture had big popularity in the past few years.  Addressing space planning this past year, design has embraced mixing styles between architecture and furnishings.  Modern homes can thrive with tufted Chesterfield sofas and Victorian dining rooms look amazing with a bold table and modern dining chairs.  Don't get me wrong, this has been a prominent design aesthetic that is as old as time, but I feel this past year that main stream design culture has really embraced this look, to all of our benefit.
