I have always been a nickel and chrome kind of decorator.
My house is full to the brim of brushed nickel faucets and silver accessories and gray metal cabinet knobs.
But times.....
....they are a changin'.
Decorating with copper is the newest trend as shown in this amazing kitchen from Minimalisti.
At first....I wasn't sure about it......so I started slowly.....adding a piece here and there.
And now.....I love it.
It's warm and shiny and welcoming....and one piece in a room says....hello....
....I'm a star.
Here's some of my favorite ideas to introduce a little copper into your decor.
1. Add copper boxes to a side table for beautiful functionality. I have boxes similar to these that I use to store cards and other small games in the library.
2. I love the idea of a copper bowl perched in a bookcase. Add texture and pattern by filling it with decorative balls made of wicker or wood.
3. This outdoor lantern is perfect for a porch or outdoor entry. The architectural features and the copper finish help to showcase this beautiful light fixture.
4. A mirror is an easy way to add a little copper to your decor. The curved lines and playful whimsy of this cheerful contemporary design add fun to any wall display.
5. This versatile antique copper and glass round accent table is an elegant addition to any design style. I would love to see it tucked next to a tufted linen chair and stacked with vintage books.
1. Add a little pop of copper to a bookshelf with these ribbon distressed bookends. The patina and shine will add character to any books in your collection.
2. Seriously. This copper tray is at the top of my list for fun ways to add copper to my home. It would be perfect stacked with wood boxes and a vase of fresh flowers.
3. I'm always on the look-out for versatile pieces that transform a space and this small mirrored side and copper side table fits the bill. The lines and curved detailing are a welcome addition in any room.
4. This aged copper lantern adds patina and character to any outside space. Hang it on an exterior wall next to a mailbox or vintage house numbers to greet your guests with style.
5. The shine on this copper vase sets it apart in any decor. I would add it to the gray hutch in my kitchen and fill it with branches and dried seed pods.
Decorating with copper is a simple way to make a minor change to make a room feel current.
So here's to trends and color and patina and texture.....
....and adding a little star to your space.
