White lighting is always crisp and clean whether you take it in a contemporary or traditional direction. An easy and inexpensive way to introduce white into your lighting scheme is by simply adding white lamp shades to entryway, chandelier or bedroom lighting.
The Zhush is a great source for beautiful room images and there were ample shots of white lighting...enough to be the inspiration for this post! Consider white lighting as a counterpoint to a dark space like the image above or as a compliment to a sunny and brightly designed space.
White table lamps are always stylish when in an urn or gourd shape. The wide variety of shapes possible within ceramics will always make table lamp visually interesting and mini works of art.
Consider white coral as a lamp base in a summer home or take an old, plain wooden lamp base and whitewash it for a distressed seaside look.
Ceiling and pendant lights are also chic in white. The obvious choice is to install white lights in a kitchen. There is no question that white in a kitchen is a clean and sanitary look. I’m mad for the white milk glass chandelier above. It’s both modern and traditional at the same time. Can you say two for one? The basic drum shade in white would be a great way to start slowly. They don’t break the bank and are design simplicity at its best. There is a reason most lamp shades are white...white lighting is timeless and here to stay.
