This is the bedroom of Houston area interior designer and blogger, Amanda Carol. Carol, who has moved around the country, and abroad, many times, is well-versed at assembling a beautiful bedroom with optimal functionality. She re-upholstered her headboard in a velvet suede, painted the walls a creamy neutral, and made herself a pretty, pale blue duvet. Mismatched mirrored nightstands flank the bed, atop which sit crystal table lamps, which add more shine and keep things airy. A clear glass vase, coppery-y picture frame, and mirrored jewelry dish complete the vignette.
You can pull together an almost identical look with these pieces:
Keep clutter to a minimum by putting art on the wall. This Vintage Girl Wall Art features a ladylike silhouette atop newsprint, framed in black. The Findlay Mirrored 3-Drawer Tall Chest is tailored but still feminine, with plenty of storage space. Top with the Vienna Full Spectrum Crystal Urn Table Lamp, which we love for it’s unique shape and narrow profile, along with an Octagonal Mirrored Tray for odds and ends.
Amanda Nisbet is a high profile interior designer based in New York City who loves color and pattern. Although this bedroom is quite neutral, Nisbet incorporates purple, chartreuse, and even pink accessories, to make it a standout. Other elements, like the stacked block crystal table lamp with purple-trimmed shade, and the tri-level brass side table, add shimmer and shine.
To create this look for yourself:
Start with neutral bedding, and then add the Caper Tiered Square Glass Antique Brass Side Table. The open configuration avoids blockiness but still allows for plenty or room to store books and such. The Vienna Full Spectrum Crystal Cube Table Lamp adds geometric interest without bulk. For ambiance and a spot of shimmery color, we love the Jubilee Fine Fragranced Plum Orchid Candle. Finally, if artwork seems daunting, you can opt for a patterned rug to bring in color, texture, and fun. The Pave 1238 Olive Branch Contemporary Area Rug achieves the same effect as the artwork Nisbet hung on the wall.
Like Amanda Carol, Mel, the Australian interior designer and blogger behind Georgica Pond Interiors chose soft blue as the main color for her master bedroom, but paired it with white for a crisper feel. (She is a huge fan of America’s East Coast cottage style.) She had the headboard custom made. The nightstand looks like a vintage piece painted white, though we aren’t certain. Mel spruced up the plain white shade of the classic crystal ball lamp with a blue ribbon that’s actually a bra-strap elastic! A silver clock and faceted mirror add the requisite shine.
Coordinate similar pieces for a dreamy blue and white bedroom:
Begin with a substantial piece that makes a statement and has tons of drawers, the Regency Ivory Lacquer Accent Chest. With that chest as the base, opt for a larger mirror. The Gold Orb Round Wall Mirror is an interesting shape, and the gold detailing brings out the handles on the chest. Don’t be afraid to mix metals! Add the Voyager Picture Frame Bulova Alarm Clock; we love it’s two-in-one functionality. Finally, the Quad Stacked Crystal Table Lamp adds a feminine touch.
