Ideas for creating stylish Fall mantels.
Fall is my favorite season – I love everything from choosing the perfect pumpkin (with a cute stem), to making chili on a cool night, breaking out my boots and jeans, but mostly adding Fall style to my home. Specifically my fireplace mantel.
This year, I kept it simple and neutral with a nubby wreath, driftwood pumpkins and a deconstructed little chair as a unusual fireplace screen.
Since the mantel is a focal point in most rooms, it’s the perfect place to add a little touch of Fall.
Wall mirrors look great above mantels.
Symmetry
The windows flanking both sides of this mantel create beautiful symmetry that The Lily Pad Cottage. The matching wicker chairs and a mirror take center stage with a few plants for interest. Don't forget floor reading lamps so you can enjoy the fire with a good book.
Wreaths are perfect to place above the mantel for Fall.
Seasonal
Don’t be afraid to display something normally reserved for the Christmas holidays like the green wreath used by City Farmhouse. Mums on the hearth and a textured basket keep the focus on fall.
Have fun with your Fall decor.
Have Fun
This horse head hangs all year long over Our Fifth House’s mantel but she gives it a fun fall twist with a tartan scarf wrapped around its neck.
Simple decor is sometimes the most effective.
Simplicity
A single white pumpkin and decorative wall mirrors, like Dear Lillie’s mantel, hints at Fall and it’s all that’s needed for a beautiful mantel.
Get risky with your Fall mantel and go dark.
Rustic
Don’t forget to bring the display down to the hearth. This old sign doubles as a fireplace screen for Primitive and Proper and the brass deer adds interest.
You don't have to have a real fireplace, you can make one!
Fake It
Don’t have a fireplace? Fake it like Vintage Whites did with an old mantel propped against a wall and some gourds scattered on the floor.
Use your vertical space with wall decor.
Height
Create height by adding simple twigs from the yard to frame the focal point, like this fun wreath-wearing deer head from Craftberry Bush.
