What's your style when it comes to Valentine's Day indulgences? Do you prefer light and frothy or rich, dark, and delicious? Yes, I am referring to food, but I'm also talking about bedroom decor. The culinary arts are one of my favorite unexpected arenas from which to draw design inspiration. While yesterday's post on romantic decorating ideas was all about bringing the luxe look of French style to your space, today I'm seeking design inspiration from sweet treats. If you dream of fruit desserts, look for bedroom pillows and throws in berry shades; patterns like ticking stripes; and materials like featherweight cottons and linens to convey the airiness of whipped cream. If chocolate is more your scene, try sumptuous velvets and leathers; elegant wood lamps with curling filigree work; and complementary tones like red wine and deep espresso. I also like to keep two basic rules in mind. First, eating dessert in bed is always a do. Second, champagne is a true neutral—both the color and the drink—so cheers to your romantic bedroom decor!
