Last year I had the privilege of traveling to Paris and Provence, France, and while I had been to France before, this most recent trip was one of the most romantic adventures I have ever been on. There is something in the air in France that just oozes love. Romantic French decor has a beautiful balance of ease and class and is layered with rich textures. With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I have rounded up some of my favorite images of French interiors to help inspire your decorating.
Beautiful scrolling chandeliers and shabby chic, delicate furniture are two ways to achieve a romantic French look. The romance comes from the muted palette, delicate feminine details and relaxing vibe that this look encompasses. A great way to bring a pop of color to these romantic spaces is to create a sophisticated floral centerpiece with bright, lively blooms in rich hues.
Something else these images display - which I think adds to the romantic feel - is the play between old and new. Antique and contemporary pieces coexist harmoniously, perfectly demonstrating a whimsical, romantic vibe. And while the decor can drum up passionate emotions, I am most certain that just outside the frame of these photos there lies a table full of wine, cheese and baguettes, the ultimate accessory for true French romanticism.
