English Style Bathroom With Formal Lighting

Traditional lighting fits beautifully in this English style bathroom design.

Embracing formal bathroom lighting is one way of keeping traditional style alive in a world eager to modernize everything. There is something very romantic about a timeless bath and Belgian Pearls had some glorious pictures that show why.

It reminds me of period movies depicting 18th and 19th century aristocrats soaking in tubs filled by long-suffering servants. The good news is that modern plumbing has made everything easier, but you can still get the beautiful look of a classic French chateau or English manor house!

Crystal Lighting In Traditional Bathroom Design

Design a traditional, elegant bathroom with crystal lighting.

Changing your bathroom lighting fixtures will get you one step closer to creating an elegant bathroom.

While some design codes don’t allow you to hang fixtures over tubs, you can still incorporate crystal chandeliers in most places throughout a bathroom. Remember to be mindful of scale. Bathrooms are generally smaller than other rooms with low ceilings, so keep lighting size appropriate to the space.

Traditional Bathroom Light Fixtures

While formal bathrooms look divine with crystals they are not the only design game in town. Gold framed mirrors, silk draperies or even a tufted pouf or seat will add to grandeur to your bathroom.

Here is a little design tip.... Try not to use dark shades on sconces or chandeliers if you need those particular fixtures for applying make-up or shaving. If they are just decorative, go right ahead, they look very chic. Personally there are days when I would rather not see what I look like however how long can I truly fool myself.

Bathroom Lighting & Mirrors

1. The Tivoli crystal mini chandelier is elegant for a smaller bathroom but still exudes elegance.

2. Lighting for above the mirror is elevated with the Jessica McClintock bath light.

3. Traditional bathrooms will sparkle with the 3-light wall sconce.

4. Elegant lighting should illuminate elegant mirrors like the cut corner oval wall mirror.
