Size can matter when it comes to decorating interiors, and small dining room design can go haywire if you don’t remain mindful of scale.
Lonny has a dining room section that included chic and small dining rooms and spaces that are sure to inspire.
Obviously you know your space best, but I have put together some tips for creating space where there may not be any.
You can carve out dining rooms even in the smallest homes. Tables in foyers or living rooms can be both hall or center tables and then converted into dining rooms. That is also true of tables in kitchens.
You need not have a separate formal space, but if your primary dining room is in the kitchen, I like to make sure the kitchen has a seamless design, with concealed appliances and uniform cabinets so that the usual kitchen functionality is downplayed.
Some tips on furniture include round tables that make it easy to work and move around, as well as armless or “close to armless” chairs.
Of course all dining spaces require stylish lighting. Pendant chandeliers brighten dining spaces without overwhelming the space, and if you have a corner banquette, why not consider swing arm wall lights that illuminate dark corners.
