I saw this room on Splendid Sass and thought it was a great candidate for a get this glam living room for less post. I loved how the red and white color scheme has a modern and fresh take on holiday colors yet would look crisp and chic all year long.
It’s essentially a white room with pops of color introduced through the accessories and window treatment. In a word, a beautiful blank canvas.
I chose a room that had some universal basics that most people have...a neutral sofa, white walls and a creamy carpet. This foundation allows you to build any color story you want, and introduce texture to makes things lively.
Strategically placed round mirrors can create an Art Deco design on the basic bookshelf, while a timeless lamp can be transformed by a colorful lamp shade. Interesting textures are found in the soft, fur pillows and a twig-inspired metal table. A few warm wood pieces help ground the space.
No doubt, most people already have a chair or chest that can fill that role. All told, the accessories I have chosen to create the look come in under $1500.
1. A Chinese red lamp shade made from Dupioni silk will transform a basic table lamp.
2.A faux fur throw pillow creates a tactile element on a sofa or chair.
3. The Niko swing arm sconce in Ribbon offers stylish task lighting.
4. Stylish round mirrors can be grouped to create dynamic wall art.
5. I like using a bookcase as a room divider, like this 16 cube white bookcase, to display books and personal accessories.
6. A unique side table, like this silver faux bamboo table, adds texture to any room.
7. A white wooden turned floor lamp fits nicely behind furniture to offer additional lighting to any room.
What would you use to create a glam living room for less?
