Jessica Alba is the poster girl for organics. Through The Honest Company she has created an empire about all natural, organic products with transparency for ingredients and global impact.
When thinking about her brand, I started thinking about what 'Organic' means to me in terms of interiors. For me 'Organic' interiors are spaces that have a free, flowing feeling mixed with pieces and accessories that are natural, upcycled and unique.
The living room above from Lady Sadie is a mix of vintage pieces, multiple collections, varying plant arrangements and an overall easy feel.
Below we will discus the elements seen above and how to achieve a Jessica Alba-approved organic design for your home.
ARCHITECTURE
One of the most interesting ways to achieve an organic look is with architecture. While this isn't an easy fix, if you are looking for a space or thinking of remodeling your own, pay close attention to the architecture of your space.
Flowing shapes that coincide with the natural surroundings and provide soft, flowing lines screams organic. The loft spaces from Bohemian Homes embrace free flowing angles and natural materials that create almost 'nature-like' levels within an interior space. This image reminds me of climbing through a forest with peaks and lookouts along the way.
PLANTS AND GREENERY
A very key element in an organic design is greenery. Succulents, vines, ferns, trees and many more plants bring life and oxygen to your space.
Greenery brings the outdoors in, brings a wild-flowing element, and awakens your senses of touch, smell and sight.
Clusters of potted plants, potted tall trees and potted herbs make this window seat from Rose Gold Teef make this organically wild corner come to life.
NATURAL LIGHT
One important element, if not the most important element, in an organic space is natural light. After all, what is more natural and organic than the sunlight flooding through your windows and drenching your home.
This dining room from Turbulences Deco oozes organic goodness from the natural light to the collections of vintage pottery to the reclaimed table and chairs.
UPCYCLED AND VINTAGE FURNITURE
Once you have set the tone with your architecture, accessories and a multitude of plants, you have to think about furniture.
If you really want that organic design feel, taking the extra time to hunt for the perfect vintage pieces will be worth it. If this concept weirds you out, don't forget you can always reupholster your old sofa or chair to breathe new life into it.
However, vintage accent tables have a history and soul that simply can not be achieved with newly purchased pieces.
Having an organic space is easier to achieve than you think, and I am sure Jessica Alba would happily stamp her 'Organic Seal of Approval' on any one of the above spaces.
