Lighting can make or break a room, especially in a bathroom where good lighting is essential.
When planning your bathroom lighting, it's important to include general, task, and decorative lighting.
Traditional recessed lights placed strategically throughout the space provide general light. Consider adding them in the shower or over a bathtub.
Flank a mirror with a pair of decorative wall sconces that are placed 36” to 40” apart for the best task lighting without causing harsh shadows. Depending on your height, the best placement for sconces is 60” to 70” above the floor so they are at your eye level.
A statement chandelier or unique pendant gives the room personality as well as providing decorative light. Center one on the ceiling or place one over a bathtub for a luxurious look.
Don’t have the budget to hire an electrician? Get creative by using a pair of table lamps on a bathroom vanity or try hanging a pair of pendant lights at eye level near the mirror.
Keep these tips in mind to ensure you end up with a bathroom that really lights up your life.
