Every year, my girls and I trim the tree with ornaments collected over the years. From their Baby’s First Christmas ornaments to felted Boston Terrier heads to commemorate our new puppy, it’s all about tradition.
So while the tree doesn’t change much, my mantel does. It’s a fun place to get creative and change things up every year.
2015 brings us a whimsical Christmas mantel centered around cute long john stockings for everyone in the family, even our pup Sushi!
2014 was all about burlap and mercury glass in this monochromatic Christmas mantel.
2013 was joyous with a JOY marquee sign attached to old pallet wood painted with birch trees. Metallic spray paint adds bling to a pair of metal stockings.
2012 brought out the antique stocking stretchers that I found at a flea market that year. Mason jars filled with Epsom salts (snow) and candles create a festive glow.
2011 centered around an old crib spring and fresh garland. Stockings in coordinating patterns add a fun touch.
Here’s to keeping tradition alive …
while making room for new ideas.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
