Summer entertaining does not require vast lawns and decks. Designing small outdoor spaces thoughtfully can result in fantastic and functional outdoor rooms that will keep you and your guests al fresco for hours.
This cute terrace has everything you need to entertain in style and at a fraction of the space most people have. I think going vertical helps. Taller, comfortable bar stools allow for seating but take up less square footage and a tall pub table is just enough surface space for dining.
One thing to remember, if your only seating is a stool, cushions will help keep guests comfortable for longer stretches of time.
Lush foliage keeps the space interesting, enveloping and can hide adjacent buildings, homes or fencing. As there is no roof, string lights (also known as party lights) illuminate the patio and keeps it festive. If you have the room, I would personally add outdoor wall lights for added atmosphere.
1. If you want to create an instant party vibe or if you rent a place without exterior lights, I like using the Aspen Indoor-Outdoor String Lights.
2. I’m crazy about this double box designed Bronze Outdoor Light by Possini. The design is current and looks more substantial without taking up a lot of surface space.
3. The Zuo Modern Anguilla Aluminum Outdoor Barstool is perfect for small outdoor spaces. I always say go armless if you really don’t have the room.
4. I like the simplicity of the Anguilla Outdoor Square Pub Table which has a low maintenance finish and is great in tight spaces.
5. The Riverstone Falls Floor Fountain will create a soothing trickling sound that is perfect for creating serenity while outdoors.
