Rustic Wood Decor

I live at the ending of a winding farm road.....surrounded by all the beautiful things that living in the country brings.

You know.....hay and cornstalks and fresh vegetables and fresh air and sunshine.....

....and barn wood.

I never truly appreciated the beauty of barn wood....until I moved here.....but it is amazing way to add character and architectural detail to a space.

Here's just a few ideas to add rustic charm with barn wood decor.

Rustic Charm

1. Add barn wood to furniture

This vintage crate with a barn wood top featured in Country Living makes the perfect accent table.

Pair the table with a neutral color sofa and grain sack pillows.

Then add stacks of books and a pitcher of fresh flowers to complete the look.

Decorating Tips

2.  Add architectural interest with barn wood

Use barn wood to add architectural interest and charm by adding it to windows and ceilings as featured in Architectural Digest.

Pair it with metal bookshelves and a tufted chaise to create contrast, drama and visual appeal.

Industrial style lamps stacked on wood block side tables compliment the rustic charm of the barn wood architectural features.

3.  Cover a wall with barn wood

I think this is one of my favorite ways to add rustic charm with barn wood....simply cover a wall with it.

This mid-century modern living room, featured in Architectural Digest, is the perfect mix of old and new.

The barn wood wall and built-in banquet compliment the contemporary seating, dining table and chairs.

Decor Tips

4.  Make barn wood the focal point

This rustic bathroom featured in House Beautiful is complete barn wood perfection.

Wrapped in barn wood, the bathroom also has a vintage claw foot tub, a stone pebble shower and white subway tile.

Add a grain sack shower curtain and greenery for simple, finishing accents.

Vintage, reclaimed wood adds so much to a home.

Add it to your space as furniture, architectural features, walls, ceilings or flooring.

After all......rustic charm is just a piece of barn wood away.
