Minimalist bathrooms can be a true work of art. Mundane items like faucets and lighting can become sculptural works of art when offset by simple architecture and monochromatic colors.
Such bathrooms need not be “cold” if you are not a fan of concrete and glass. By using creamy limestone and teak wood you can have a minimalist look with a warm feel. Lonny has some wonderful and artistic pictures of the ideal contemporary bathrooms.
There is something so moody and intriguing about these spaces. These minimalist bathrooms draw you in even though there is technically not a lot to see.
The clean aesthetic calls for simplicity of line even when it comes to the bathroom lighting fixtures. Simple spot lights, cubes or recessed lights work best and can be used to highlight fixtures like art in a gallery.
Warmer, minimalist bathrooms can be achieved with the introduction of more natural sunlight against woods and cream colors. I love the use of contemporary pendant lighting in the lower picture. It’s cool, art-like and functional.
In additional to the warmer bathrooms or super hard-surfaced bathrooms, there can be a compromise when interesting tile and monochromatic pattern is used. There is no mistaking these bathrooms as anything other than minimalist, however they have a variety of pattern and geometry that makes them unique.
