Hudson Valley Cottage Style is my new obsession, so I went to Remodelista to get my fix of pix!
Like most cottages, Hudson Valley style houses have their roots in Colonial and Victorian architecture, but because they are so close to major cities like New York, they have been transformed into a funky version for hipsters and city folk with rustic getaways.
This particular cottage has a lot going on, especially when it comes to lighting. From utilitarian style desk lamps juxtaposed with natural woven bedding, to 19th century style ceiling lights near reclaimed wood walls. This house has it going on.
While it sounds bizarre, this aesthetic is super chic and what the country cottages vibe is all about these days. Trust me, you can even throw in some mid century furniture and it would still look great.
The playful use of lighting continues. When was the last time you saw a woven wicker bedside lamp in the same house with contemporary clip-on lights, library swing arm lamps and modern spots? Crazy, right?
This bohemian cacophony of style takes the best of the natural elements found in the country and couples them with the ever-changing style of modernity.
1. I would seriously mount the Hudson Valley Laconia Old Bronze Swing Arm Wall Lamp everywhere. From bedroom to kitchen, the classic retro look is smashing.
2. The Caroline Set of 2 Mahogany Dining Chairs are a great alternative to antique ladder-back chairs.
3. Create a mod version of old style lighting with the Hinkley GatsbyHeritage Brass Mini Pendant.
4. I love this versatile table that is great whether town or country...Padgett Black Limed Iron Side Table.
5. Make chilly winter nights a tad more cozy with the Chesterfield Dove Grey Tone Decorative Throw Blanket.
6. Enjoy the look of cottage woods with the Lights Up! Woody Black Faux Bois Light Shade Floor Lamp.
